Taunton Area Cycling Campaign (TACC) are committed to protecting and respecting your data privacy. This privacy policy sets out the basis on which we process any personal data that we have collected from you or about you. By processing, we mean when we collect, use, store, delete and otherwise manipulate or access personal data.
When you are asked to provide information from which you can be identified it will be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

What personal data is collected and held about you?

Your data are collected when you become a supporter of TACC. We collect your name, postcode and email address. If you have no email address we collect your home address. If relevant, we may also collect and hold data such as the areas of cycle campaigns that you are interested in.

For what purpose are your personal data collected and used?

  • The TACC will only collect information needed for cycle campaigning and communications with supporters, for example to notify you of events that the TACC are organising, send newsletters or send you information and updates about our work and activities.
  • We will not give your data to third parties nor will we use your data for commercial purposes.

How we keep your data secure

  • All personal data are stored on an external server from MailChimp. The server is secured by firewalls, authentication and encryption. Regarding the privacy policy of MailChimp we refer to www.mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.
  • We will not allow supporters access to each other’s personal data.
  • We only hold as much data as needed, and only for as long as needed.

We process personal data held about you in the following ways

  • To enable compliance with statutory and legal obligations.
  • To respond to any complaint that you or another supporter might make.
  • To answer general enquiries that you or another supporter might make.

What are your rights?

You have rights in relation to your personal data.

  • You have the right to ask for a copy of the information the TACC hold about you.
  • If you find that any of the personal data that we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or contains errors, please notify us and we shall undertake to make the appropriate corrections at the earliest opportunity.
  • Should you wish to have some or all of your personal data erased we will do so.
  • Should TACC cease operations your data will be deleted.

Restriction or objection

If you wish to object to or restrict how your personal data are processed by us, you can do so by writing to us at contact@thetacc.org.uk.
Please be aware that such requests could result in an inability to provide you with some or all of our services.

Unsubscribing from newsletter

You can request that you unsubscribe from receiving future emails by using ‘unsubscribe’ in our newsletters or by emailing contact@thetacc.org.uk.

Our website ‘thetacc.org.uk’ contains links to other websites run by other organisations. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of third party websites.


Cookies

The website thetacc.org.uk places cookies, on your computer or handheld device. This is standard practice for all websites.
Cookies are simple ‘text files’ which you can read using a text editor program on your own device (PC, tablet, phone). Typically, they contain two pieces of information: a site name and unique user ID.
None of our cookies store any sensitive information such as your name and address.
When we send you a cookie only our web server can read them; information gathered by us never goes outside our control and is not shared with other organisations for their marketing purposes.

Cookies in detail

We do use some third-party widgets on the site, such as Twitter. These widgets may set cookies. However, the cookie information from each of these sites is usually anonymous, unless you are logged in to those third-party systems while you are on our site.

The cookies “cookieControl” and “cookieControlPrefs” are placed to confirm your privacy and cookie choices for the duration of your visit to the website.

The cookie ‘NID’ is set by Google Chrome browser. Most Google users will have a preferences cookie called ‘NID’ in their browsers. A browser sends this cookie with requests to Google’s sites. The NID cookie contains a unique ID Google uses to remember your preferences and other information, such as your preferred language (e.g. English), how many search results you wish to have shown per page (e.g. 10 or 20), and whether or not you wish to have Google’s SafeSearch filter turned on.

Furthermore you can prevent Google’s collection and use of data (cookies and IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB.

Twitter widgets may add third-party cookies – those not set directly by our site – to help analyse usage and remember your session if you are also logged in to the Twitter service. To that end, Twitter widgets may set all of the cookies that Google Analytics set and also: _twitter_sess (session cookie to remember your logged in Twitter session.


Changes to the Privacy Policy

If in the future we make any changes to our privacy policy, the latest version of our privacy policy will be published on our website.
